MARIANA ASSIS
Mariana Rocha Assis (born 28 March 1997) is a Portuguese surfer and skater from Estoril, known for her competitive achievements and dynamic presence in both surfing and skateboarding. She began surfing at a very young age and quickly made her mark — becoming Portuguese National Surf Champion in 2016 and later World Champion of surfskate in 2017.
Mariana has travelled the world chasing waves and adrenaline alongside her competitive career, blending her love for surf and skate into a distinctive athletic journey. Beyond sport, she’s also engaged in social causes serving as an ambassador for the NGO Surfistas Orgulhosas na Mulher d’África, which aims to empower young women through surf and community programs.
Her path hasn’t been without challenges, and she’s spoken publicly about confronting adversity from surviving a violent attack in 2018 to advocating against online harassment after becoming the target of malicious deep‑fake imagery using her platform to raise awareness about safety and respect.
